You can also view the 2004-2005 class page, or the set dancing class' cover page. August 31, 2005 We took a good start for the new season with an invited class given by Jim Keenan who introduced us last year to the Kilfenora Set. This time, he took on The Glencar (Polka) Set, (and not The Glencree Set as I first assumed). Glencar is located in the Caragh Lake district. It also gave its name to a ceili dance: the Glencar Reel. Here are some descriptions: I could not locate any recording with music specifically suitable for this set. If you want to dance it using CDs, you have to find tunes of the right length in other sets. February 22, 2006 We have primarily been rehearsing the sets taught thus far, so there has been very little to report on, except, sadly, me leaving Belgium. The Antwerp group wanted to celebrate this - I didn't know I was such a tough teacher that they felt a need to celebrate this. Anyway, it was a lovely evening and with the gifts that I was offered, it is simply impossible to forget them ever. Here are a few pictures. |
