I like very much eating good food and drinking excellent wines. This can be quite expensive. However, on this page, I concentrate on those places where you get really value for money. Feel free to contradict me once you've been there !

In 't Spinnekopke - Brussels
This restaurant is the place to be if you want to have an excellent meal with specialties from Brussels such as stoemp, rabbit, braised beef, etc., most of them prepared with beer. Be careful with the dessert plate of the house: it is huge ! (Last visit: February 2006)

Duc de Bourgogne - Brugge
It is not easy to make choices in Brugge since there are so many good and excellent restaurants. Brugge hosts even one 3 star restaurant: De Karmeliet. The Duc de Bourgogne is not that highly rated, but it offers very good quality in a unique environment. The dishes are rather traditional and uncomplicated, something that seems to be quite appreciated by the international crowd paying it a visit. Be sure to make a reservation. (Last visit: May 2005)

Restaurant Karel De Stoute - Ghent
Really excellent high-end restaurant with remarkably low prices due to its "menu only" formula. The only restaurant I ever went back to three times a month ! Situated in the lovely Patershol area of Ghent. I visited the restaurant the last time in July 2003 with the famous Belgian sculptural artist Dirk De Middeleer. |
Chinese Restaurant De Lange Muur - Aalst
Quite above average Chinese restaurant with traditional and Setchuan cooking. I visited it several times, though last in 2002. Excellent price quality ratio. Has hotel facility too. |

't Convent - Reninge
High end quality restaurant with hotel facility. For if you have to celebrate something. Expensive, of course, but not exceptionally for this kind of place. And ... not that far from Danouter that is worth a visit for it's folk music museum. Last visited in May 2000. |
Danieli il divino - Antwerp
Great Italian restaurant in a superb setting. Often rather crowdy and visited by celebrities what usually comes with an unfavourable price/quality ratio. But I've been there several times, and was never disappointed. Remarkable wine list, but keep an eye on your wallet ! If you aren't familiar with Italian wines, you'd better be prepared. |

Hotel-restaurant Kreusch - Amel
I ended up here purely by coincidence in August 2000 and experienced a very nice lunch with a Chateau Clos Rene 1978 for les than 25 Euro ! The restaurant features an old-wine list at very reasonable prices. Also a very nice selection of coffees. Situated in Amel in the German speaking part of Belgium. |
Chateau d'Hassonville, Marche-en-Famenne
Hop in here if you want to have a moment of peace and rest, just outside the very touristic area of Marche-en-Famenne in the Belgian Ardennes. Last visited in 1999, but still ranked very high in gourmet guides. |

Cité du dragon, Antwerp
Another top quality Chinese restaurant. Considerably more expensive than the ordinary ones, but worth the trip for sure. Antwerp is always worth a trip, by the way! |
