1) Basic jig steps Celtic Bompa in sean nos dancing class
  • Double, which goes on the right:
          / - R-treble // L-hop R-FastTreble L-hop / R-back - - //
  • Toe-Heel, which goes on the right:
          / - L-treble // R-step-forward L-heel R-step / L-down - - //
  • Side-step, which goes on the right:
          / - R-tip R-down // L-down.
Since this takes only half of the beats of the previous basic steps, this side step is often done twice.
  • Finish: a typical ending which goes on the right:
          / - L-tip R-hop // L-step R-step-cross-L-in-front L-down / R-step-R - - //

    2) Side step
This is an easy composition of the basic jig steps, which goes on the right:
    R-Double + R-Toe-Heel + R-Side-step + R-Side-step + L-Toe-Heel + L-Side-step + L-Side-step + R-Toe-Heel + R-Double + R-Finish.
On this video clip (mpg, 1.4 Mb), you see it done by Patrick at normal speed. (If the video ends abnormally, click again, or download the file first. This holds for all clips on this page).

    3) Tommy Hill's
This is more difficult, in particular at normal speed. Here is the sequence on the right (divided in parts of six beats):
  • R-Double
  • L-Tip-down R-brush-out L-hop R-brush-back L-hop
  • R-kick-L-heel L-hop R-down L-tip R-hop L-down
  • R-Double (but without the R-back) R-half-cut
  • R-FastTreble L-side-step L-tip R-hop L-down
  • pauze R-step-right L-step-cross-in-front R-kick-left-heel L-down R-swivel-on-heel
  • click-tips L-down R-FastTreble L-Hop R-Back
And of course, we've got it on video without music (mpg, 1.7 Mb) and with music.

    4) Breeder O'Donovan's (and not O'Sullivan's as it is by mistake on one video-clip).
This one is difficult to separate in 6 beat pieces, so we put everything together. Whereas the previous steps always start with two up-beats, this one has only one, so you must "wait" a little bit and then "jump" into the step.
    R-step L-down R-Treble R-down L-Treble L-hop R-FastTreble R-hop L-heel L-tip-down R-kick-L-heel R-down L-tip-down R-side-step R-treble L-treble R-click-L-heel R-down L-treble R-stamp L-stamp L-4-Drum (i.e. L-tip R-tip R-heel L-heel) R-tip R-heel-turn-out L-heel Click-tips L-down R-treble R-down R-Finish.
Since this is a difficult step, we took it on video from three different angles: clip 1, clip 2, clip 3.

Finally, we have it also all together on waltz music instead of jig. That is much slower, so you can practise more easily.
